NSW - The Junction Works
Constructed on a former market garden, the Cowpastures Community Garden is an accessible, shared space for local community groups interested in growing fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers, including young adults with intellectual disability who are interested in developing new skills. The community nursery will be accessible to a range of resident groups including people from a range of CALD backgrounds seeking space to grow vegetables that are difficult to access in shops; young people seeking training and work experience in horticulture; and those involved in The Junction Works' catering enterprise 'From Garden to Plate'.
The $4,460.00 SITA community grant will provide the funds to purchase and install a secure shed which will store garden and motorised tools and provide shelter and tea and coffee making facilities for gardeners, program participants and volunteers.
The Junction Works is a not-for-profit provider of community, youth and disability services and has been part of the Liverpool community since 1987.
