QLD - Currumbin Wildlife Hospital
Currumbin Wildlife Hospital is a true community wildlife hospital providing free veterinary treatment to any sick, injured or orphaned wildlife. The animals admitted are treated and then released back into the wild.
The $4,004.00 SITA community grant will help purchase a new intensive care unit will improve the level of veterinary care provided to critically injured and sick koala patients admitted into the hospital. This essential monitoring equipment will observe the oxygen saturation, blood pressure, heart rate and core temperature of wildlife patients.
The outcome will be a higher success and faster recovery rate in the treatment of these critical patients. And, although this equipment is primarily for the monitoring of koalas, it will be also be used on many of the other 8000 patients treated each year at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.
